Free to enter - very dear to park £4. That's for 12 hours - sorry but you won't need that long.
The Don McCullin exhibition is really interesting with both his early and post-war time work represented. There are about 200 shots in all, along with various video's shown. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the venue does not really lend itself to this type of exhibition. The light is lousy, meaning it's particularly hard to see the text accompanying the shots as well as some of the memorabilia in cases. Some of the photographs are spoilt due to glare on the glass in front of them.
The work that is shown is really good - for me the most memorable images are those from the Biafran War - according to the wording this particularly changed McCullins attitude to war from the military to the people.......
The Nikon F4 that stopped a bullet and saved McCullins life is a 'wow factor'.
One of his most well known shots is accompanied with 'post-it' notes which tell the dark - room technician how to develop the shot - without Photoshop!
There is a new book to accompany the exhibition - available in the shop at £25.
The exhibition is open until June.
Well worth a visit
